The Toledo gown gets its name from the Grand duchess Eleanor of the Italian Medici Family. This replicated gown is made of pure cotton velvet and layered in an array of satin and neat colors. Subtle stitches, a variety of adornments and 28 pearl buttons that march on the sleeves is a portrayal of her own clothing style. The late wife of the Grand Duke Cosimo I was put to sleep forever in this very dress. The sleeves are reduced to show the silk blouse. The Victorians love body adjustments for snug fits, but the Toledo gown tricks the normal eye with a slim waistline with the Bumroll and the Hoopskirts making the skirts floor length. The corset lifts the rolled out chest line.
