The Late Medieval Gambeson (Extra Large) dates back to the 15th century where these defense jackets were worn for battle, but also as fashion statements. They had layers of material that kept bullets and other weapons from penetrating the flesh and were worn solo and with other armor on top. By the Late Middle Ages, these garments had evolved into being more stylish and comfortable. Featuring authentic design, this reproduction is made from layers of soft cotton padding and wool between cottonlining and an outer shell and has beautiful front lace tie strings. This piece is designed with a fully open front which provides flexible movement and will compliment your medieval ensemble nicely. Great for costumes and re-enactments.
