As an open faced helmet, the 15th Century Sallet would have been in high demand back in the day. In many ways, this helmet offered several benefits over the closed face ones, as it allowed for greater visibility and fresh air. Archers and spearmen especially found it useful, but men on the battlefield were also fond of this head gear. Constructed from 16 gauge steel, the 15th Century Sallet is a historically accurate reproduction, that is fully wearable and reflects the era nicely. The helm has a blackened, un-lined interior. Included is a separate padded cotton arming cap.
