Long before the fall of Rome and well into the beginning of the Middle Ages, the Seax (Sax), was a universal weapon carried in Northern Europe by Anglos, Germans, Saxons and Vikings. Some were as small as a 3-inch blade while others were actual swords, boasting blades as long as 28 inches. Although the profile varied greatly, they are always a single-edged weapon.

Windlass Steelcrafts® used an original version to replicate, one that would have been used not only for fighting, but on shipboard and around the camp as well. The stunning 13-inch blade is intricately etched on both sides, and it is able to hold an edge that is razor sharp. Brass tacks have been used on the wooded grip to promote a comfortable and secure grip while both the guard and lobed pommel are made of brass. The leather sheath that has been included is also replicated from originals, boasting two thong slots. If you visit the British Museum, you can see remnants of this seax.
