Pecoraro Fencing Sabre
The Pecoraro Fencing Sabre is as attractive as it is practical. Hanwei has crafted it to stay true to length, weight and styling of real sabres to ensure you get the most of your practice. The 34” blade has been made from high carbon steel and is quite flexible near the tip. It features a full-cupped, perforated guard that has been thoughtfully ridged near the thin pommel end to offer reinforcement. Sabre fencing was popular in the late 19th century, primarily in Italy. Fencing masters were often employed to train mounted troops so they would be effective using the military sabre. This type of art has become quite desirable today with historical fencing societies. Giuseppe Radaelli, a Milanese fencing master is credited with developing this unique style, but it was Salvatore Pecoraro who refined the techniques that were eventually adopted by the Military Masters School in Rome. The flex-tempered, high carbon steel blades are button-tipped for safety and follow period proportions carefully. Radaelli and Pecoraro developed the unique hilt designs that we have reproduced in our exquisite fencing sabres. They boast sharkskin-patterned grips wrapped in wire and stainless steel guards. Both the hilt and the blade of this Pecoraro Fencing Sabre are close to the styling of true military sabres. |
