From 1522 to 1523, the Tudor Close Helm would have been seen worn in the wars in France during the reign of Henry VIII. When one thinks of a knight of this time, this type of helmet often comes to mind. These helms were crafted to provide the maximum amount of protection by locking firmly around the head. You will notice that even the slot to allow for vision is incredibly narrow so a sword couldn’t find its way inside.

The bevor (lower section) is put into the hinged overlapping pieces that hook together at the chin and the visor then locks down snug over it.
