Crusader Helmet II
Several hundred thousand men took vows to become crusaders and were granted plenary indulgence by the pope, which allowed partial or full remission for the lives they would take and sins they would make in battle. Their main goal was to restore Christian access to Jerusalem and surrounding Holy Places with any force necessary. Their emblem was a cross, seen on the left from face plate of this Crusader Helmet. For nearly 300 years, you could have seen men on foot and horse wearing this type of helmet, sometimes over a mail coif, other times as standalone protection. Windlass Steelcrafts® has carefully crafted this helmet from 18-gauge steel to ensure it is a true representation of a medieval fighting man. The narrow slots for eyes provide a menacing look and ensure the wearer would have had maximum protection. |
