Hutton Fencing Sabre
To provide a realistic appearance of a true military training sword, the hilt and blade of Hanwei’s Hutton Fencing Sabre has been replicated from originals. To be more effective for training, the blade has been slightly shortened, lightened and given a rounded tip. It also exhibits a substantial amount of flexibility. Sabre fencing was popular in the late 19th century, primarily in Italy. Fencing masters were often employed to train mounted troops so they would be effective using the military sabre. This type of art has become quite desirable today with historical fencing societies. Giuseppe Radaelli, a Milanese fencing master is credited with developing this unique style, but it was Salvatore Pecoraro who refined the techniques that were eventually adopted by the Military Masters School in Rome. The flex-tempered, high carbon steel blades are button-tipped for safety and follow period proportions carefully. Radaelli and Pecoraro developed the unique hilt designs that we have reproduced in our exquisite fencing sabres. They boast sharkskin-patterned grips wrapped in wire and stainless steel guards. Both the hilt and the blade of this Hutton Fencing Sabre are close to the styling of true military sabres. |
