Lorica Hamata
The Auxilia (secondary troops), who served in the late period of the Roman Republic under Julius Caesar would have worn this type of chainmail armor for their standard issue uniform. During this time, these pieces would have been primarily manufactured using iron or bronze. The Lorica Hamata is a handsome type of chainmail that would have been worn by the ancient Roman Legion before segmented plates of armor, such as the Lorica Segmentata, were introduced. Made from 18-gauge steel butted 9mm rings, our replica has been galvanized to help prevent rusting. The shoulder flaps and neck are trimmed in premium leather for comfort and it will accommodate chest sizes 40 to 48 inches. The Lorica Hamata weighs 25 pounds and is fully wearable, or attractive enough to simply put on display. Please note that to order this item, you must be 18 years of age or older. Please note the belt and the tunic do not come with the armor. |
