Italic Corinthian Helmet (Brass) with Plume
Our Italic Corinthian Helmet (Brass) with Plume is the only one on the market that has been created as a faithful replication to original specifications. It represents a fully refined example that dates back to 400 BC but Corinthian helmets were seen before this time, carried to Italy, Sicily and Spain from Greece. Traces of this helmet have even been excavated from Celtic graves. The Greek helmet evolved throughout most of the 5th and 4th centuries BC, finding ways to not compromise protection while offering appreciated improvements to visor, hearing and ventilation. At one point, the “Chalcidan” helmet was a preferred choice, but a cranial ridge was quickly added for better protection. Some even had hinged cheek pieces! As nasal pieces disappeared, the “Attic” style emerged. Solid brass has been used in the creation of a superb replica, which even includes an authentic plume to provide height and an increased level of intimidation to the wearer. This helmet looks handsome on display, or it can be worn for costume or reenactment purposes. Please note that you must be at least 18 years of age or older to purchase this item. |
