Crafted by the talented armorers of Hanwei, this Samurai Dragon Armor is extremely realistic due to its authentic detail. Named for the striking helmet crest (mon), this piece is designed to wear or put on display for anyone who considers themselves a connoisseur of Japanese armors; this is truly that one piece that will complete the look of your collection.

It is a faithful replication of the Byotoji Do Gusoku, taken from the Edo Period. Like many other armors of this time, the helmet bowl made famous by the Momoyama Period has been incorporated. You will notice the way the byotoji okegawa do (breastplate), displays a slight median ridge this was thoughtfully designed to deflect musket balls. Then, gift-centered flower forms that boast elaborate shakudo rivets, have been used to fasten the plates of the do.

In contrast to the traditional European one-piece breastplate, the Japanese had an appreciation for a more flexible type of armor. A dragon is displayed on the black lacquered hitsu (chest display) and the way the patina of the gusoku has been antiqued creates realism of the period.
