Gambeson-Black
For common soldiers who were unable to afford plate armor or mail, a garment such as this Gambeson-Black would have been worn with a helmet to provide a bit of protection. Although it certainly couldn’t stop a good thrust from a dagger, it would help with the shallow slice of a sword or the penetration of a weak arrow. Vertical stitching has been used on this piece that falls to the top of the thighs. Lacing on the front finishes the look perfectly. Please note that specifications may vary from one piece to another. |
