Gambeson
There will be no question that you are representing the 13th century when you wear this Gambeson. Although this piece of protective wear saw minor variations from one period to the next, there were always distinctive elements of each era. While a square quilted pattern was typically formed later, early pieces such as this one were sewn with vertical stitching. You will also notice the large laces on the front are symbolic of this time. The Gambeson was worn either with plate armor, mail or even on its own. We have used the finest quilted canvas for this piece to provide an accurate piece for re-enactment purposes. It features open armpits for added movability and breathability. |
