Pigface Helmet
It is not hard to tell how the Pigface Helmet got its name. however, while one might expect that it is crafted this way for aesthetic purposes, the ÒsnoutÓ serves a purpose. In a close-fitting helmet, you would feel a blow to the face, this design changes that. Even if the helmet was pushed against the face, it wouldnÕt cause damage to the nose, mouth or eyes. The Pigface Helmet replaced the Great Helm for much of the 13th and 14th centuries. It boasts a unique chrome finish and plenty of air holes have been created so it is easy to breathe in when worn for costume or reenactment. |
